FAME WebsiteLaunched March 2007

Fashion Arts Media Eastmidlands, short FAME, is a major event at the De Montfort University in Leicester, UK. It brings the creative industries from the area together with students to inform, inspire and encourage. The website helps to get an overview of all events, industries and guest speakers. Solution & Concept

Cooperative design was really important to me. I wanted that people can instantly connect the online appearance with the FAME posters which could be seen in the streets. Thus I tried to make the design fit to the already existing posters. Still I wanted to have a nice and clean design. Simple for making information easy and quick to access and elegant for adapting the design to the image of the participating creative industries.

Style

Because of using comic characters, there was the danger that the application might look too childish for teenager. It was important to find a more "grown-up" and "cool" style for the interface. In the final design dark blue is used which gives the interface a mature look and works for both genders, male and female. Also, in order to understand the included features - which are important to play the application - easy and quickly, the design is kept simple and clean and thus allows a high level of usability.

Target Group

Students, graduates and residents of the Eastmidlands

Award

The website was honoured by the De Montfort University during the event. Programmer Wesley Addy (BA Interactive Design) and I received an award by the actor Nick Pickard. The award was sponsored by Studio 2 Online.
